यक़ीँ की आड़् मेँ जिन्को गुमाँ नहीँ मिल्ता
उन्ही को दह्र् मेँ तेरा निशाँ नहीँ मिल्ता
तुझी को , बल्बुल्-ए दिल् ! , गुल्स्ताँ नहीँ मिल्ता
नहीँ तो किस् को इधर् आशियाँ नहीँ मिल्ता
हर् आद्मी की यही दास्तान् ठह्री है :
किः वॊह् सफ़र् मेँ है और् कार्वाँ नहीँ मिल्ता
वॊः तू , किः शह्र्-ए महब्बत् का साकिन्-ए मश्हूर्
यॆः मैँ , किः जिस्को तेरा आस्ताँ नहीँ मिल्ता
बहुत् सरल् सी यॆः , "रौशन्" , तेरी कहानी है :
जहाँ को ढूँढ् रहा है जहाँ नहीँ मिल्ता !
यक़ीँ (contr. of यक़ीन्) = certainty; faith.
आड़् = concealment; obstruction; restraint.
गुमाँ (contr. of गुमान्) = doubt, suspicion.
दह्र् = time; eternity; the world.
निशाँ (contr. of निशान्) = sign; mark; proof; trace.
बुल्बुल् = (in Persia) nightingale; (in India) fork-tailed shrike.
दिल् = heart; mind; spirit.
गुल्स्ताँ (contr. of गुल्स्तान्) = rose-garden; flower-garden.
आशियाँ (contr. of आशियानः) = nest (of a bird).
आद्मी = human being; person.
दास्तान् = story; history; fame.
सफ़र् = journey; campaign.
कार्वाँ (contr. of कार्वान्)= caravan, company of travellers.
शह्र् = city, town.
महब्बत् = love; friendship.
साकिन् = inhabitant, resident.
मश्हूर् = well-known, famous; manifest.
आस्ताँ (contr. of आस्तान्) = threshold; door, entrance; abode.
सरल् = straight; sincere, simple.
जहाँ (contr. of जहान्) = the world.
जहाँ = (adv.) wherever, in the place which.
