ग़ज़ल् २२

मैँ जित्‌ना लुत्फ़् उठाऊँ उसे मनाने मेँ
उठाए उत्‌ना ही वॊः फिर् से रूठ् जाने मेँ

ज़िया-ए हुस्न् है वॊः शै जो काम् आती है
सियाह्-ख़ानः-ए दिल् का तमस् मिटाने मेँ

जला जो जोश्-ए महब्बत् की ताब् मेँ , या रब्ब् !
वॊः इक् सितारः-ए रौशन् हुआ ज़माने मेँ

खुली निगॆह् मेँ ज़िया ताक्‌ने का ज़र्फ़् कहाँ ?
पॆ इत्तिफ़ाक़्-ए तमाशा है सो ही जाने मेँ

न पूछ् मुझ्‌से नज़ाकत् बुत्-ए सितम्‌गर् की
हुआ है चूर् , मेरी इक् नज़र् उठाने मेँ

ख़ायाल्-ए पास्-ए वफ़ा तक् नहीँ तुम्हेँ , "रौशन्"
बुलंद् ऽअर्श्-ए वफ़ा थे किसी ज़माने मेँ

हुस्न् = Goodness; beauty.
शै = thing, object.
सियाह् = black, dark, sombre; unfortunate, bad.
ख़ानः = house; compartment.
सियाह्-ख़ानः = dark / unfortunate house.
तमस् = darkness, gloom; the quality of darkness incident to humanity; sorrow.
जोश् = heat, passion; ardour.
ताब् = burning; light, radiance.
रब्ब् = lord, master; preserver; god.
सितारः = star; fortune, destiny.
रौशन् = light, illuminated; shining, luminous; clear, manifest.
निगॆह् = contr. of निगाह्.
ताक्‌ना = to look at, behold; to stare at.
ज़र्फ़् = skill; capacity, capability.
इत्तिफ़ाक़् = probability; opportunity; chance, fortune.
तमाशा = sight, spectacle; pleasure.
नज़ाकत् = softness; delicacy; elegance.
बुत् = idol, statue; mistress.
सितम्‌गर् = tyrant, oppressor.
चूर् = powder; crushed, powdered.
नज़र् = vision; glance.
नज़र् उठाना = to raise one's glance; (met.) defiance.
ख़ायाल् = thought; consideration.
पास् = regard, respect, sake.
वफ़ा = fulfilment; fidelity.
बुलंद् = lofty; exalted.
ऽअर्श् = the highest sphere, the empyrean (where the throne of god is).
